Robust, Tamper-Proof fragrance dispenser for High Risk Public Restrooms

Shield is an odour control and air freshening, automatic fragrance dispenser, designed for restrooms in high-traffic public buildings. Utilizing the unique, existing dispensing technology from FDT™ (Fragrance Delivery Technologies Ltd), Shield provides a comfortable experience while limiting the theft and vandalism opportunities.

Design Objective

This project focused on the development of an original solution for an existing market need through the principles of problem solving, user experience and aesthetic exploration.

My CONTRIBUTION.

First solo project as a designer, under the guidance of Ticket Design's Director.
Conducted secondary research, Ideated the possibilities and Conceptualized the final design with aesthetics, before proceeding to work with the Design Engineer.
Utilized the company's existing fragrance dispensing technology as well as their preliminary market research, to come up with the product-system that addressed this.
Made key decisions for the product materials, specifications and working mechanisms.

Changes since...

Almost all of my design decisions and design elements were retained, even as the project was continued after my employment period. The main changes made were to the pattern of the grille or the vents on the sides and the top of the dispenser. Naturally, the renders and presentation visuals were also reworked.
